| A slow experimenting with ways of drawing a fact that the practice of Nicolas Tilly sometimes moves away from the sheet outside of the plan. After questions related to the format, up to the mark, is given to the drawing, the question arose as to how to design it. It is no longer a question of the model from nature but to tap into the multiple records are drawing shapes (comics, cartoons, video games…) without forgetting the DAO. Since the mouse can replace the pencil, as the pixel can replace the trait, Nicolas Tilly tries 3D modeling on the computer. Do not attempt to master the full potential of the software, it comes out new forms, hybrids, "without head or tail" where the basic volumes themselves but become distorted. It was not then keep the file in a corner of storage space, but to make real these new forms. So volumes at once strange and familiar punctuate the exhibition space. These volumes retain the status of drawings since they are printed in sheets of plywood, the trait is cuts and ligatures. But they are not just applications that has formed on the screen because the gesture to ask these volumes on the ground make them buy property to remodel the space by surrounding the phenomenon of projection, "fragmentation". As if drawing, despite its lightness and its fragility alleged, had the ability to change his environment. |
